Taking Back The Covers

Big stuff is going on today in the land of DFTBA Records. Exciting stuff, guys.

I previously posted a picture (from Alan’s dailybooth) of a covers album called Taking Back The Covers that seriously got me excited. I hope it got you excited too. Since then, not much has been said about it.

Alan fixed that by talking about it on his website, which you can read by clicking here.

Basically, Alex Day put a covers album into motion and got a punch of our favorite DFTBA artists to contribute.

Details:

ALL CAPS kicked the album off with a flawless production of Hank’s Angler Fish song.

Then Mike Lombardo covered “Shortwave, Part 1” from my latest album, Erase This….

Dr. Noise, who has a long history of covering other DFTBA artists, chimed in with two covers, one for Alex’s “A Thousand Hours” and one for my song “Forgiven”.

Meghan Tonjes also recorded two covers, her acoustic take on ALL CAPS’ “Don’t Unplug Me” and a beautiful recording of Alex’s “Holding On”.

Lex Croucher also contributed two covers, one of Tom Milsom’s “Mixtape” and the other of Alex’s “Impossible Dreams”….

Tom Milsom completely transformed ALL CAPS’ “Happy” with a piano and some unusual percussion….

Hank covered Tom’s “Porphyrophobia”, which makes all kinds of sense given how fast Hank typically sings and the fact that Tom once told me “Porphyrophobia” was an exercise in fitting the largest number of words into the shortest song possible.

And finally, Alex contributed two covers of his own, one for Raven Zoe’s “Takeoffs and Landings” and one for the song ALL CAPS and I wrote together, “Summer of ’09”.

Read Alan’s full blog post for the full information on the album.

Possibly MORE exciting, you can listen to 30 second previews of each of the songs on Amazon. You know you want it, go get it.

Lastly, go pre-order the album already!
